FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you serve?
We’re based in Northeast Florida and proudly serve Jacksonville and nearby communities like Riverside, Atlantic Beach, Nocatee, and St. Johns. We also handle long-distance moves throughout Florida and occasionally out of state. If you’re moving beyond Jacksonville, just ask and we’ll let you know if it’s a fit.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, fully. You can look us up on Sunbiz.org and through the Florida Department of Transportation. We carry general liability insurance, cargo protection for your belongings, and workers’ compensation for our crew. We’ll gladly provide a Certificate of Insurance for your building or HOA if needed.
What services do you offer?
We offer full-service moving for homes, apartments, offices, and everything in between. That includes:
– Local and long-distance moves
– Packing and unpacking
– Loading and unloading (if you rent a truck or container)
– Furniture disassembly and reassembly
– Piano and specialty item handling
– Senior moves and estate transitions
We’re known for white-glove service and friendly, efficient crews.
How does pricing work?
Most local moves are billed hourly, based on the number of movers. We have a 3-hour minimum, and your quote includes everything you need: a moving truck, moving equipment, furniture pads, plastic wrap, and tools for disassembly. For long-distance or specialty jobs, we’ll provide a custom quote based on your needs.
What’s included in my quote?
We’ll give you a clear, detailed estimate that includes your crew size, truck, protective materials, and any applicable discounts. If there’s a piano, large appliance, or extra stop along the way, we’ll spell that out ahead of time so there are no surprises.
Do you offer packing services?
Yes, full or partial. Whether it’s just the kitchen or your whole house, we’ve got you. We bring the materials and pack with care. If you’re packing yourself, we can drop off boxes and supplies ahead of time.
Do I need to be home during the move?
Yes. Either you or someone you trust should be present for the walk-through at both locations. This helps us confirm everything on your list, answer questions, and make sure nothing gets missed.
What happens if something is damaged?
We hold ourselves to a high standard. If something isn’t right, email us within 7 days at admin@newchaptersmoving.com with photos and details. We’ll review everything promptly and walk you through next steps. Our crews are trained to handle your items with care, but we’re also here to make things right if needed.
What is your cancellation policy?
Deposits are refundable with at least 72 hours’ notice. If you cancel within 72 hours, a partial fee may apply. We’re a small team, so reschedules or cancellations with short notice impact our calendar, but we always do our best to accommodate.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as possible. We keep a small, high-quality crew, which means we book up fast, especially on weekends and at the end of the month. Two to four weeks’ notice is ideal, but we’ll always try to squeeze you in if we can.
Do you move in the rain?
Yes. Florida weather doesn’t scare us! We wrap furniture thoroughly with shrink wrap and blankets, and we’ll work with care and urgency no matter what the forecast says. The only time we reschedule is for lightning or hurricane-level storms. Your safety and ours come first.
Can I ride in the moving truck?
Unfortunately, no. Due to insurance restrictions, customers can’t ride in the truck. But we’ll coordinate timing so you know when to meet us at your new home.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, we collect a small deposit to hold your date. It goes toward your total and helps us confirm your crew and truck in advance. We’ll always send a written confirmation and receipt.
How should I prepare for moving day?
Make sure everything is packed and labeled, walkways are clear, and appliances are disconnected. Keep a box of essentials (like chargers, meds, and important documents) with you. We’ll send you a full prep checklist once you’re booked so you feel confident and ready.
Can you move pianos or other large items?
Yes. We specialize in moving upright and baby grand pianos, large mirrors, safes, artwork, and other items that require extra care. These will be factored into your quote so we can bring the right tools and crew.
Are there any hidden fees?
Nope. We believe in transparent pricing. If anything changes, like adding a stop, requesting packing help, or moving something especially tricky, we’ll talk through it with you first.
